Renewal of Subcription and Meetings Application for 2018

Our annual mail shot of documents is scheduled to be posted to all existing members of the Society on 31 January. This year the membership form asks members to specify whether they want to receive this information by email in future or whether they want to continue to receive it through the post.  As the ELCGA are no longer providing us with addresses for current Lady Captains we will be emailing all those who are not already members. We aim to email this at the end of January. All the documents will also be available to download from the website from early February.

We have some great venues for Meetings & Friendly Matches this year and look forward to catching up with our members at one of our events.

Happy golfing

Autumn Meeting Chelmsford Sept 2017 – Results

On a lovely mid September day, 68 ladies from 31 clubs across the county travelled to Chelmsford Golf Club to play in our last event of the season.

The Autumn Meeting started a little later than normal but all the ladies got off the tee within the hour to enjoy the warm sunshine.  The course was in superb condition but the undulating greens proved difficult for some.  As usual, the prizes in the 4BBB competition were fiercely contested with many of the prizes decided on count back.  Out of the 16 prizes (8 pairs) 15 different clubs across the county were represented.  The day finished with a delicious meal which included a very delightful but indulgent trio of deserts.  Our grateful thanks are extended to Pat Vincent, Lady President of Chelmsford Golf Club, who stood in for the Lady Captain as she was unavailable. Thanks also to Chelmsford Golf Club for hosting the event and to Bridget Logan for helping with the results of the competition.

Jan Collier (Lady President of the Society) and Pat Vincent (Lady President of Chelmsford Golf Club) brought the meeting to a close by presenting the prizes.    In 3rd place with 38 points ocb were Pat Kettle (Colchester) & Maggie Stevenson (formerly North Weald), 2nd place also on 38 points were Penny Lipscomb (The Warren) & Jenny Frost (Forrester Park).  In 1st place and winners of the Bradban Cup were Karen Charles (Colne Valley) & Jenny Hartnett (Crondon Park).

3rd Summer Meeting Stoke by Nayland August 2017 – Results

56 past and present Lady Captains from 24 clubs travelled to Stoke by Nayland in mid August for the Society of Lady Captains  3rd Summer Meeting.  After the customary bacon rolls the ladies teed off on the Gainsborough course for their 4BBB competition off full handicap with drawn partners.  The undulating terrain and lakes presented a real challenge for the ladies, but, as is often the case, many of the scores were high with 7 pairs scoring 40 points and above.

Thanks to Stoke by Nayland for allowing us to use their lovely venue and to Lady Captain Anne Hemmings who was a wonderful host and even had to play at the last minute due to odd numbers.   Thanks also to Lesley Garnet for all her help with the event and to her husband for helping with all the results. The meeting was a very friendly affair and the day finished with a lovely meal which included delicious fresh local fruit grown by the Peake family business.  The prizes were presented by JanCollier (Lady President of the Society) & Anne Hemmings (Lady Captain of Stoke by Nayland).
