The 66th AGM of the Society eventually took place in early September, having not been possible in 2020 or May 2021 due to Covid-19 restrictions. A little over 40 members of the Society attended. There were a number of apologies not least of which was our own Lady President Dot Greaves who was having to isolate. The AGM was as usual an informative but brisk affair which included a presentation to the winner of the Ida Bunting Memorial Trophy Carol Penny The Rayleigh Club and the runner up Linda Woods Royal Epping.
At the end of the meeting a lovely thank you was given by Susan Wilson Forrester Park, on behalf of all members, to the Committee for their hard work especially during these difficult times. This was also echoed by Carole Loveday Romford Golf Club.
The Lady Captain of Romford Golf Club Steph Withers then welcomed all the ladies to Romford and hoped they would enjoy their day. The Autumn Meeting took place shortly afterwards with 38 ladies in the 4BBB competition off full handicap, with the Lady Captain of Romford marking a card for the odd pair.
The course was in superb condition though some of the ladies found the rough punishing and had difficulty with some of the carries off the tee. But all enjoyed their golf in warm and sunny conditions. The day was finished off with a very enjoyable fish and chip and Eton mess supper. Carol Bell thanked Steph for all her help and the assistance of Romford ladies and a gentleman in ball spotting as balls were difficult at times to locate in the rough. Carol presented Steph with an orchid as a token appreciation. Our grateful thanks also go to Romford Golf Club for hosting the meeting and to all the staff on the day. The catering and service staff deserve a special mention as they were exemplary and the ladies really appreciated it.
The competition was very competitive with all pairs on 30 points or more. In third place on count back with 40 points were Cecelia Jackaman The Rayleigh Club & Viggi Thompson Forrester Park. 2nd also on 40 points were Linda Woods Royal Epping & Terri Hayzer Warley Park. Way out ahead with a fantastic score of 46 points and winners of the Bradban Trophy were
Pennie Lipscomb The Warren and Mary Hull Burnham
