After careful consideration and in the knowledge that the brakes have been put on easing the lockdown further, the Committee have decided with the agreement of Three Rivers Golf & Country Club to cancel our last meeting of the season on 8 September.
It is a real shame that we can’t get together at all this year and whilst playing golf is relatively safe, doing anything in big groups increases the risk significantly. I know that some of you will be disappointed but at the end of the day the health & safety of our members is paramount.
If any current Lady Captains need to purchase a Society of Lady Captains badge and/or bag tag together with 2021 membership for their Vice Captain please contact Dot Greaves ASAP, so that early collection can be arranged. A form can be downloaded from our FAQ page.
Subscription forms, Notice of AGM 2021 and other documents will be sent towards the end of January. A list of dates for 2021 will be posted here shortly so don’t forget to check back soon.
Message from our President
2020 has been a sad year for us personally and for the Society. I found the lockdown very difficult. Not knowing how long the pandemic would effect our bookings, we decided month by month whether we could go ahead with a meeting. In the end we did not manage to meet up as we felt it was too much of a risk and we did not want to change our format in doing a draw and not allowing members from the same club to play together. Hopefully next year we will have a full calendar.
We did not bank the membership cheques this year as Covid took over, so in January 2021 our mail shot will include all 2019 members, any new members for 2020 and new Lady Captains. I hope all the clubs will enter the Ida Bunting Knockout and make up for the lost year.
I hope you are all able to play golf at your clubs. I think the golf course is the safest place to be and find the golfers very good at social distancing.
Stay safe and well
Best wishes
Dot Greaves
During the current unprecedented times it is difficult to assess the longer term effects the pandemic will have. Some organisations may not survive, the Society has been running since 1954 and we currently have a healthy membership base. Doubtless some members may not return to the fold, so encouraging other Past Lady Captains at your club to join our ranks in 2021 is really important at this time.
Looking forward to catching up with you all in 2021
Stay safe
